Congratulations 18U OBA Champions!!
Congratulations to our 18U OBA team who brought home the OBA Championship last week in Kingsville!!! We are so proud of all of you, congratulations on a great season!

Weekend recap ...

We started Game 1 Friday afternoon against Kingsville in Kingsville and it was not the start we were hoping for. We lost 0-7 to a strong Kingsville team. This is a double knockout tournament so to lose game 1 means now we would have to take the long route. Game 2 we met Western County rivals - the Dresden Tigers. With our backs against the wall,  the Pirates managed to capture their first win of the tournament. Chase Sitzes pitched a great game and the final score was 12-2

Game 3 vs Exeter on Saturday morning was another Elimination game for both teams. Ryan Bowen pitched 5.1 outstanding innings giving up only 1 run. Connor McCallum led the way for the Pirates with 2 hits. Pirates won Game 3 by a score of 6-1.

Game 4 was against Leamington, another must win game. Connor McCallum pitched game 4 giving up 1 run in 5 innings. Defence was top notch as usual and Lucas Laprise hit a grand slam as the Pirates cruised to an impressive 13-1  win over Leamington.

Going into Sunday, we knew it was going to be a long day, but the Pirates were up for the challenge. We played Clinton first and the Pirates’ bats came out on fire. Drew Bunda drove in 4 runs on 3 hits to lead the Pirates at the plate. Brock Lane (AP from U-15) pitched a gem giving up 3 hits and 1 run in 2 innings pitched. Brady Debot (AP from U-15) pitched the final inning of the came with a 3 inning mercy and a final score of 24-1. The bats were hot for the Pirates as they had 17 hits.

We lost the bye draw, which brought the Pirates to the play in the semi-final game Sunday afternoon versus a very strong Kincardine Cardinals team.  The Pirates‘ bats continued the trend in exactly the same way as game 5 ended. The Pirates had 14 hits, led by 2 triples by Caleb Rosseel and 3 hits from Chase Sitzes, a single and 2 doubles. Chase Sitzes pitched 5 innings only giving up 2 runs and a win with a score of 15-2.

Game 7 of the tournament - the finals brought a rematch against the host team Kingsville. Jack Martin started the final game on the mound for the Pirates and pitched an incredible game. Jack went 5 innings and gave up 4 runs. The Pirates bats continued to stay red hot as we had another 15 hits in the final game. Nash Grealis and Lucas Laprise both went 3 for 3 while Caleb Rosseel, Drew Bunda and Connor McCallum each had 2 hits. Ryan Bowen , Brock Lane and Chase Sitzes each had 1. Brady Debot ( AP U-15) came into close the game, Brady was lights out as he pitched the 6th and 7th inning sealing the Provincial Championship for the Pirates.

We are so proud of this group and we would like to thank all the APs for being a huge part of the tournament. We would also like to thank all of our parents for all the support throughout the season.

Congratulations boys!!!
