Mosquito OBA Bring Home Silver!
Submitted By Kaylen Burgess on Wed 06 19, 19
We would like to congratulate our Mosquito OBA team after an impressive showing in the Dorchester Summer Slam Tournament this past weekend.

The team made it through round robin play with a 3-0 record beating the London Tin caps, Whitby Selects and Woodstock.

The team went into Sunday’s playoffs as one of the top teams in the 15 team division. This setup a rematch against Whitby in the quarter finals with the Pirates coming out on top setting up a semifinals matchup against a very tuff Halton Hills team. The Pirates lit up the base paths with great bats, base stealing and solid defense coming out on top with a score of 9-1.

The Pirates punched their ticket to the finals with their opponent being the very equally matched Woodstock Wranglers Rep Team. In Round Robin play the pirates were the better team with a score of 6-5 but came up short in the finals losing control of the game in the 6th inning after being down 1 run for the first 5 innings. The final score being 9-2.

Coaching staff were very impressed and proud of how our little village team went up and played against the big cities proving they could compete with the best. Hot bats, great defense and shutdown pitching being the winning formula for our hometown Pirates.

Congrats go out to the Woodstock Wrangler’s on their big win and big thanks to tournament host Dorchester.

As always a very big thank you to our supportive Pirate’s family and fans for a very fun and successful weekend.
